Recycled clothing

Published by kdarrell under general, sewing Edit This

My husband is getting pretty annoyed with me and honestly I can’t blame him.  I refuse to throw out any clothing.  For some reason I have it in my head that I can save all the kids article of clothing and cut them up and make some recycled quilts out of them.

I got this idea about 8 years ago when a friend of mine talked me into making recycled jean quilts.  At first I was pretty good about cutting up the jeans and making the quilts.  I had made one for each of the children and two for our pop up camper trailer.  But I kind of got bored with that (yeah, I do that a lot Wink) so I stopped making them, but I didn’t stop collecting them.

Now I have TWO closets full of jeans and old children’s clothing that I haven’t done anything with.  So I’m thinking when the kids go back to school I have to get back at my recycled quilts.  Right now I don’t have any pictures of the quilts that I have made, but when I get serious with it again, I’ll be sure to post the pictures.

So…could you all please tell my husband to be patient with me.  I will get to it.  I promise.Smile

You know your addicted to beading when….

Published by kdarrell under general, jewelry Edit This

Honestly folks this is so funny!  This is a true story.

Yesterday my husband and I took the kids to a giant flea market in another town.  My main reason for going was to look for books and jewelry supplies.  Well I didn’t find any beading supplies, but I did pick up six books at a very cheap price so I was happy with the day.  On our way back from the flea market when stopped at a little vegetable stand that also has a barbecue and ordered some dinner.  After we got our dinner and were sitting outside eating it I started looking around.  On one of their signs they had posted carrots, cucumbers and BEANS for sale.

Well you know your addicted to beading when…..you read a sign that says beans and you think it said BEADS.  LOL  I got so excited that I told my husband after we were done eating I was going to go into the store and see what kind of BEADS they had for sale.  Then my husband burst my bubble when he told me to read the sign again.

That would be beans, not beads.  Oh well.  All I can say is I tried.

Knitted afghan

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

I started knitting around the age of 8.  My aunt thought that I should probably learn the craft.  And I am quite happy that she did.  A couple of years ago I started a knitted afghan but was unable to complete it as I lost the pattern.  Then last year I took it all out and started another one (different pattern).  And yes, you guessed it…I lost that pattern.

So a few months ago I started searching on the Internet for a knitted afghan pattern.  I wanted to find one that I could either save on my computer or the instructions were so  easy that I would be able to remember the pattern.   Well I’m happy to report that I found a very easy pattern that I can remember in my head.  So even if I lose this pattern off my computer I’m still good to go.

So do any of you knitters in here have any great sites that you have found to get free and easy knitted afghan patterns from?

First tag!

Published by kdarrell under general, life Edit This

Wow. I have only been with this blog for about a week now and I got my very first tag. I am so thankful to crafting101. Since I am a huge fan of crafting and hobbies I was extremely pleased to receive this tag from this blogger.

The tag is all about ME! Yup, you will get to learn all about me and my quirkiness. Now if I can just narrow it down to six quirky things about me. LOL Hope you all enjoy the post.

1. I absolutely hate to eat. And because of this I sometimes forget to eat. I can go a whole day without eating and then start to wonder why I have hunger pains.

2. I am so not a girl. I don’t own one dress or a pair of heels. And the only reason why I have a purse is because I need to carry my driver’s license with me.

3. Growing up, I didn’t want to have any children. I wouldn’t even babysit. Now I have three of my own.

4. When I was going to school I failed home ec three years in a row. Now I make a living out of selling homemade crafts and quilts.

5. I have been trying to gain weight for years. I am five feet, one inch tall but only weigh 92 lbs. I guess you need to eat to gain weight. lol

6. I hate to shop! So I don’t. Even at Christmas time. I give my husband a list of Christmas presents I want him to buy the kids, give him the money and send him on his way. This is the ONLY way to shop!

Now I’m suppose to pass this tag on to six people. But since I’m quite new in the today.com world I really have no one to pass it down to. So I’m leaving it open to anyone who wants to steal it from me. If and when you steal it, leave me a comment here so I can go check out all your quirkiness. Hopefully I didn’t make you laugh too hard and I hope you won’t hold any of this against me and still come back for another visit. LOL
