It’s been a while

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

Wow I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted in here.  Life has been so crazy with getting ready for the holidays, everyone in our house being sick and me returning back to work.  I haven’t even been able to do any amount of crafting.  So since this is a crafting blog, I really haven’t had that much to report.

I did manage to complete one crafting project.  I made a wedding scrapbook for my father in law and his new bride for Christmas.  But other than that the crafts have been pretty much non-extant .  I’m really hoping that life will slow down a bit in the new year.  Maybe then I’ll have the time to work on crafts and be able to come in and post some of my accomplishments.

But until then, I am wishing you all the best for a fun and prosperous new year!  Hope to see you all more often in the new year!

update on the craft show

Published by kdarrell under crafts, general Edit This

So as you can see I haven’t been in here for a while again.  Time just keeps slipping away.  Most days I don’t even get time to craft and this really does displease me.

As you all know I was going to a craft fair.  Well I would like to say that I did alright.  I didn’t do as well as I had hoped I would but I made a few sales so I guess it was pretty good.  I really wish I had time to create more.  This way I would have had a wider selection to offer people.  I’m really hoping that during the next year I can create more handcrafted items and then possibly try to sell them during the next Christmas craft season.  But with the way life has been going these days I honestly think that’s probably a pipe dream.

But you never know.  So yes, I would do another craft fair again.

Dressing up my craft blog

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

SmileyCentral.com

As you can all see by my little image posted here, I was doing a little bit of playing around today. Lately I have found that bloggging has become a little bit boring so I have been slacking off quite a bit.

When I first started this blog it was to showcase all my works of art as well as to give some helpful hints and advice on different aspects in crafting. Well somewhere along the way I have lost my focus and haven’t been updating this blog as much as I should be.

So I’ve decided to try to get myself back into the swing of things. Right now I have decided to dress up this blog a little bit so it doesn’t look so boring. Every once in a while you will see something different on here ( but it will pertain to crafting) and this will hopefully keep me motivated. So wish me luck and if I start to digress once again, please someone find a smilely that will kick me in the butt.

Not much crafting getting done

Published by kdarrell under crafts, general Edit This

As you can tell by my posts (or lack of posts) should I say I haven’t been accomplishing very much these days.  Between work, the house and the kids I’ve been pretty busy.  I haven’t even been able to squeeze much crafting during this time and this is really starting to get on my nerves as well.

As far as the posting, I haven’t been doing a lot of this either because I really have nothing to share.  I haven’t really worked on much during this time so of course I have no pictures to show you all.  Hopefully in the near future I can get on some sort of schedule and be able to get everything done that needs to be done.

Until then happy blogging and happpy crafting to those who have the time. Laughing

It’s been a while

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

Wow I can’t believe how fast time flies by and how quickly it’s getting away from me.  I was seriously amazed that I haven’t posted here in the last few days.  I wish I could come in here and tell you all the a lot of excitement has been happening in my life and that’s why I haven’t been here.  But that’s not the case. Laughing  It’s just a case of life getting away from me.

I have been busy with the kids, the housework, going back to work and yes, a little crafting.  In the evenings (when I’m home) I have been busy working on the counted cross stitch for my friend.  I don’t have any pictures of the results yet as most of the work I have been doing is white on white which is not to photogenic.  But, when I get more done, I promise I’ll be in here to post.

Well, until then, I will talk to you all later.

I’m forever losing things!

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

I’m really starting to get annoyed with my little self.  I have the worst habit of losing things.  And most of the items I tend to misplace are either craft items I’m working with or patterns that I’m working on.  A few years ago I started a knitted afghan pattern.  I was doing quite well with this pattern until I lost it.  So I put the yarn away and kind of forgot about it for a while.  Then a little while later I started on a different knitted afghan pattern and….well  you all know where this is headed. Wink

Well I’m here to report that once again I’ve done it again.  Only this time it was with plastic canvas pieces.  Not the pattern mind you, but the pieces that I’ve already cut out.  So before I can continue with this project I have to go on a search and rescue mission for some plastic canvas pieces.

Now you know why I am starting to get annoyed with my little self.

Back to work

Published by kdarrell under crafts, general Edit This

So as I said earlier, my crafting looks like it’s going to be put on hold for a little while.  I did in fact start my new (old) job on Sunday and have figured out that I’m probably going to run out of time to do as much crafting as I have been able to do in the past.  That’s the reason why I haven’t posted in a few days either.

Honestly even working part time has put me in a tail spin.  Between looking after the kids, doing the housework and working, there just isn’t enough hours in the day for everything.  And although I do love crafting and earning a small income from it, I have to figure out what my priorities are and unfortunately at this time crafting doesn’t top the list.

But no worries, once I have everything in my “real” life under control I am still going to find a way to try to fit a bit of crafting in.  So please bear with me until then and hopefully soon I will have some crafting results to blog about.

He really does pay attention!

Published by kdarrell under general Edit This

It always amazes me when my husband shows that he is actually listening to stuff I say and do.  Here’s an example of what I mean.

I don’t drive in the city so if I need any amount of craft supplies I have to either ask my husband to take me into town or I will explain in the finest detail of what I need and ask him to pick it up for me.  This doesn’t happen very often, but when it does happen he never has a problem doing this for me.

Last night I asked my husband if the next time he drives by the craft store in town would he please stop in and pick me up some aida cloth. For those of you who are unfamiliar, this cloth is used in cross stitching. His reply back to me was “What count?”.  This amazed me because I was seriously surprised that he knew that aida cloth comes in different counts.

So in the past when I thought he wasn’t listening to me I guess maybe he was!  And just in case your all wondering, YES he is going to pick up the aida cloth for me.  Fourteen count to be exact!

I love….the dollar store

Published by kdarrell under crafts, general, hobbies Edit This

One of my favorite places to shop for craft supplies would be at our local dollar store.  I usually go in there once a month and spend about $40 all on craft supplies.  With everything in there being a dollar I usually come out with quite a few supplies.  This is where I buy all my thread for quilting, all my yarn for knitting and a lot of my beading supplies as well.

I haven’t made my monthly trip to the dollar store in a couple of months.  The main reason for this is because with the children home I haven’t been doing a lot of crafting so I haven’t been running out of a lot of supplies.  But with the kids headed back to school next week, I can see my crafting hobby picking up which means that my monthly trip to the dollar store will be back on as well.

So this question is going out to all  you crafters out there.  Where do you purchase your supplies?  And do you make craft supply purchases on a regular basis?

Fall plans

Published by kdarrell under crafts, general, hobbies Edit This

Because I’ve had two little people underfoot all summer, not a whole lot of crafting has gotten done.  But this will soon change in about a week’s time.  In a week’s time my two youngest children will be headed back to school which will mean that I will have a lot more time to devote to my crafts and my crafting business.

I plan on making quite a few cross stitched pieces, some plastic canvas sets, more jewelry and I also plan to finish up a couple of quilts as well.  This way when the Christmas craft fairs start, I will have quite a lot of different types of crafts to sell at them.  Hopefully I am able to stick to my plans and get quite a bit accomplished before the beginning of December.  If not, then anything I make this fall will have to be put away for the Christmas season next year.

Wish me luck!Smile
